Agnihotra Sadas held - 30 Jul to 1 Aug 2010

Sri Adi Shankara Bhavadpadacharya in his advisory sloka “Sopana Panchakam” stated forty advises for up-lifting the humans and  the first two primary advise there in is  Vedo Nityamadeeyataam Taduditam KarmaSwanushteeyatam. This means a person should repeat the Vedas learnt by him  regularly and also perform the Vedic injunctions specified in them as well.  In today’s world, this upadesha of Sri Shankara is adhered to especially by the Agnihotries.

With the grace of Their Holinesses Pujyasri Shankaracharya Swamijis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam  a Sadas (congregation) of Agnihotries from all over India was conducted at Kanchipuram  for three days. Their Holinessesof Kanchi strongly believe that the pursuit of performance  of the Agnihotra and the associated Yagnas  protect one and all and hence this Sadas is a very important activity that the Mutt is associated with Year after Year. This Sadas is the 6th annual Sadas.

Every day, the Sadas is comprised of two sessions one in the morning and one in the evening, spanning over 2 hours each, in the divine presence of  the Acharyas. The sessions involved intense discussions on the understanding and interpretation of the details of the Vedic Injunction proceedings as stated in the texts called Sutras(methodologies) of various Rishis of the yore. There were also practical sessions that not only prayed for the universal welfare but also for the welfare of our dharma.
In total, 113 agnihotries participated in the event representing the states of Maharashtra , Rajasthan , Andhra , Karnataka and Tamilnadu. On the concluding day , sambhavana was given to the Agnihotries who also received the bountiful blessings of Pujyasri Acahrya Swamijis.
